Jason Ho, Pepperdine Alumnus, attended Dr.
Rosenkrans' classes to discuss ethics in advertising. Jason shared his
conundrums while working successfully in sales at Novartis, Medtronic and
Phillip Morris. Jason also attended the class pitches to Joy's Chocolates and
Walking with Dinosaurs clients in Spring 2008.

Dr. Rosenkrans' Spring 2008 ADV
475.01 and ADV 475.02 (ad strategy, copy and layout) classes participated in a
creative ad campaign competition.
One class created a campaign for Joy's
Chocolates and the other class created a campaign for Walking with Dinosaurs
Live Experience. Joy from Joy's Chocolates and James from Walking with Dinosaurs launched the campaign at the
beginning of the semester.
Pitches were held in April and winners were announced at an award ceremony at the end of April. Adventure team
won the Walking with Dinosaurs campaign competition. New

won the Joy's Chocolates campaign competition. New

provided by Raven Van, CEO of Raven Media Group. Guests and judges of the

Operations of Raven Media Group; Professor Dana Zurzolo, esteemed artist,

As president of NBC West
Coast during the 1990s, Don Ohlmeyer oversaw launching such programs as “ER,”
“Homicide,” “Friends,” “Frasier,” “Providence,” “Will and Grace,” and others
among the top programs in television. Ohlmeyer started the MTV Awards and ESPN.
He was also an originator of Monday Night Football and produced it for six
years. He has a long list of other credits as a producer and director. They
include coverage of the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Series and the Emmy
Awards. His productions have won 17 Emmy Awards and two Peabody Awards among
many others. In the 1980s, he formed an agency for advertising, marketing and
television consulting with clients such as the NFL, NHL and Major League

campaign competition for Habitat for Humanity, Ventura County affiliate.
Students created a brand strategy and executed print ads for newspapers and
magazines, outdoor advertising, Internet advertising, a direct mail piece, POP,
a radio spot, a TV commercial storyboard, and two other ad pieces of choice.
They pitched their campaigns to the Habitat client and several ad executives at
the end of the semester and Team Misfits won the competition. Their tagline: Be
A Hero. contribute. Pepperdine University is also involved with Habitat of
Ventura.

Campaign for Much Love Animal Rescue April 7, 2005

ADV 475
teams Adessa, Angel, Pacific Coast, Matchbox, and Hemispheric pitched their
creative ad campaign to Much Love Animal Rescue client, ad executives, guests,
and colleagues. Pacific Coast Advertising won the competition with their

Seasoned actor George Hertzberg, who has appeared

Scott Harris, President of Mustang Marketing
visited with ADV 275 students on Tuesday, February 8. His dynamic presentation
included a discussion on consistency, clarity, continuity, creativity, product
positioning, and more in advertising. Scott also emphasized that advertising can
make any promise, but you must deliver that promise.

Kathleen Doyle, Former Vice President and
Associate Media Planner for BBDO, spoke to Spring 2005's ADV 275 students on
Thursday, February 10, about media planning, targeting the audience, and media
planning for DVD releases. She has also
worked on a variety of entertainment accounts, such as Sony Pictures, New Line
Cinema and MGM theatrical, as well as worked for other large ad agencies such as
Ogilvy & Mather and McCann Erickson.

Fall 2004 ADV 475 class competed in a Creative Ad Campaign Competition for
Newbury Park Feeds. Four teams pitched their campaign to Twain Lockhart, owner
of Newbury Park Feeds. The four teams: Truffle Advertising (Mikal Kelly, Jenny
Yang, Patrick Rooney, Muna Abudayeh, and Liz Wells); JR MAC (Michelle Whitveen,
Runa Abe, Calle Hansen, Allison Lewis, and Jessica MacDonald); Thumbnail
Advertising (Katrina Bekessy, Paula Parone, Nicole Ho, and Misty Day); and
StraightUp Advertising (Bess Young, Rachel Orrico, Arist DeWolff, and Jason
Valles). The winner, Straight Up Advertising, was announced December 6, 2004.

Communication Graphics Student Wins Honorable
Mention in Design Contest
Students
from Dr. Ginger Rosenkrans’ Spring 2004 Communication Graphics course
recently entered the nationwide 2004 Michigan State University Design Contest
for College Students. The students submitted advertisements that they designed
during the Graphics class. Pepperdine advertising major, Katrina Bekessey, was
awarded an honorable mention in the advertising design competition division for
her Crčme Savers ads. There were nearly 300 submissions from college students

Adv 475 Class Competes in Creative Campaign
for Haven Hills
Students in Dr. Rosenkrans' Spring 2004
ADV 475 class (Advertising Copywriting and Layout) participated in a creative
campaign for Haven Hills, a nonprofit organization for abused women and
children. On April 8, students pitched their creative campaign to advertising
executives from Newman Grace advertising agency and Haven Hills representatives.
Team JEMP (Jorie Miller, Jameson Valone, Pete Benigno, Emily Merrill, Megan

AdWaves competes in
2004 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC)
AdWaves, Pepperdine's advertising club,
competed in the
2004 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) on
Friday, April 16, 2004 at Pepperdine University. This year, the
competition was hosted by Pepperdine. The NSAC is the
premier college advertising competition. It provides more than 3,000 college
students with "real-world" experience by requiring a strategic
advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate sponsor. Sixteen schools
are selected to present their campaigns to a panel of industry executives at the
AAF National Conference. This year's campaign was for Florida Tourism. First
place was awarded to San Diego State University, 2nd place to UCLA, 3rd to
Azusa Pacific, and 4th to California State Fullerton University. Visit the AAF's

Spring 2003 MSCO 371 (Communication Graphics) course entered the
nationwide 2003 Michigan State University Design Contest for College
Students. They submitted advertisements they designed during class to the
advertising design division of the contest.
Pepperdine student Did Sun was awarded third
place in the advertising design competition division for her Sunkist ad. There
were nearly 250 submissions from college students throughout the United States.
